Loan approval — A Difficult Decision

A week later, Daniel returned to the lending agency, feeling both hopeful and anxious.Une semaine plus tard, Daniel retourna chez le courtier de prĂȘt, Ă  la fois plein d’espoir et anxieux.
The agent greeted him with a polite smile. “Good to see you again.”Le conseiller l’accueillit avec un sourire poli. « Ravi de vous revoir. »
Daniel sat down. “Thank you for seeing me again.”Daniel s’assit. « Merci de me recevoir Ă  nouveau. »
The agent opened a folder. “We have reviewed your documents carefully.”Le conseiller ouvrit un dossier. « Nous avons examinĂ© vos documents attentivement. »
He continued, “As a matter of fact, we can offer you a loan.”Il poursuivit : « En rĂ©alitĂ©, nous pouvons vous accorder un prĂȘt. »
Daniel’s face lit up. “That’s great news!”Le visage de Daniel s’illumina. « C’est une excellente nouvelle ! »
The agent raised a finger. “However, there is one condition.”Le conseiller leva un doigt. « Cependant, il y a une condition. »
Daniel leaned forward. “What kind of condition?”Daniel se pencha en avant. « Quelle condition ? »
The agent explained, “We recommend an insurance policy designed for customers with lower income.”Le conseiller expliqua : « Nous recommandons une assurance conçue pour les clients Ă  revenus modestes. »
He added, “It would provide additional security for both you and the bank.”Il ajouta : « Elle offrirait une sĂ©curitĂ© supplĂ©mentaire pour vous et pour la banque. »
Daniel listened carefully. “How does it work?”Daniel Ă©couta attentivement. « Comment cela fonctionne-t-il ? »
The agent replied, “If anything happens to your job, the insurance will cover your loan payments for up to twelve months.”Le conseiller rĂ©pondit : « Si quelque chose arrive Ă  votre emploi, l’assurance couvrira vos mensualitĂ©s pendant jusqu’à douze mois. »
Daniel looked relieved. “That sounds reassuring.”Daniel sembla soulagĂ©. « Cela semble rassurant. »
The agent nodded. “It is especially helpful in uncertain situations.”Le conseiller acquiesça. « C’est particuliĂšrement utile dans des situations incertaines. »
He continued, “There are only a few exceptions where the policy would not apply.”Il poursuivit : « Il n’y a que quelques exceptions oĂč l’assurance ne s’applique pas. »
Daniel leaned back slightly. “Such as?”Daniel se pencha lĂ©gĂšrement en arriĂšre. « Par exemple ? »
The agent answered, “Cases of voluntary resignation or misconduct, for instance.”Le conseiller rĂ©pondit : « Par exemple, en cas de dĂ©mission volontaire ou de faute professionnelle. »
Daniel nodded confidently. “That won’t be relevant in my case.”Daniel hocha la tĂȘte avec assurance. « Cela ne me concerne pas. »
The agent continued, “However, you would need to accept additional fees for this insurance.”Le conseiller continua : « Cependant, vous devrez accepter des frais supplĂ©mentaires pour cette assurance. »
Daniel frowned slightly. “Extra fees?”Daniel fronça lĂ©gĂšrement les sourcils. « Des frais supplĂ©mentaires ? »
The agent replied, “Yes, a small monthly premium added to your repayment.”Le conseiller rĂ©pondit : « Oui, une petite prime mensuelle ajoutĂ©e Ă  vos remboursements. »
Daniel thought for a moment. “It’s not ideal to pay more.”Daniel rĂ©flĂ©chit un instant. « Ce n’est pas idĂ©al de payer plus. »
He added, “But the protection seems valuable.”Il ajouta : « Mais la protection semble utile. »
The agent smiled. “That’s exactly the idea.”Le conseiller sourit. « C’est exactement le but. »
Daniel nodded slowly. “Alright, I accept the condition.”Daniel hocha lentement la tĂȘte. « D’accord, j’accepte la condition. »
The agent extended his hand. “Excellent decision.”Le conseiller lui tendit la main. « Excellente dĂ©cision. »
Daniel shook his hand. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”Daniel lui serra la main. « Merci de m’offrir cette opportunitĂ©. »
The agent prepared the documents. “Let’s finalize the agreement.”Le conseiller prĂ©para les documents. « Finalisons l’accord. »
Daniel carefully read through the contract.Daniel lut attentivement le contrat.
He asked, “Everything is included here, correct?”Il demanda : « Tout est bien inclus ici, n’est-ce pas ? »
The agent confirmed, “Yes, all terms are clearly outlined.”Le conseiller confirma : « Oui, toutes les conditions sont clairement indiquĂ©es. »
Daniel took a deep breath and signed.Daniel prit une grande inspiration et signa.
The agent stamped the papers. “Congratulations, your loan is approved.”Le conseiller tamponna les documents. « FĂ©licitations, votre prĂȘt est approuvĂ©. »
Daniel smiled with relief. “That means a lot to me.”Daniel sourit avec soulagement. « Cela signifie beaucoup pour moi. »
The agent added, “The funds will be transferred within the next few days.”Le conseiller ajouta : « Les fonds seront transfĂ©rĂ©s dans les prochains jours. »
Daniel stood up, feeling more confident than before.Daniel se leva, se sentant plus confiant qu’auparavant.
He said, “I’ll make sure to manage everything responsibly.”Il dit : « Je ferai en sorte de tout gĂ©rer de maniĂšre responsable. »
The agent nodded approvingly. “That’s the right attitude.”Le conseiller acquiesça avec approbation. « C’est la bonne attitude. »
Daniel left the office with a sense of relief.Daniel quitta le bureau avec un sentiment de soulagement.
Outside, he paused and smiled to himself.Dehors, il s’arrĂȘta et sourit pour lui-mĂȘme.
He finally felt that things were moving in the right direction.Il eut enfin le sentiment que les choses allaient dans la bonne direction.
